Volvo Repair: 1991 Volvo 244DL - bent brake lines, volvo 244dl, plastic tabs

Question
Recently I had the front struts & mounts replaced at a local shop. A few weeks later, my regular mechanic noticed that the brake lines had not been properly routed around the struts, and were bent and kinked. Also, the tabs on the strut tubes (that the brake lines are routed through) were clipped. My mechanic thinks that the lines should be replaced and the tabs welded back onto the strut tubes. They did improve the routing of the lines and told me that it'll work fine the way it is now but my mechanic insists that any bends or kinks will restrict fluid and cause premature and uneven pad wear (this is a 4-piston system). What say you? Thanks.

Answer
Bill, I tend to agree with him but a small kink is not going to hurt it.  If it was kinked in half, I would say replace them.  The tabs probably werent put on because of an oversite.  New struts come with plastic tabs that can be screwed in.  I dont care if a shop tried to improve the routing.  it wasnt made like that an Volvo routed it like that for a reason.  If it were me, and you want to keep the car a while, I would replace them.  Roger
