Volvo Repair: replacing power steering pump, steering wheel lock, high pressure hose

Question
Hi My son's 1994 850 volvos power steering pump is leaking and we want to
replace it.  it does not look to hard but I have never done one and I wonder if
you have any advise and do we need any special tools.

Answer
Frank, no advice really, the job is as it appears. Just use a line wrench on the high pressure hose fitting to remove if you have one. Be carefull not to strip line fittings on reinstall. Start them with your fingers and be sure the threads are straight before you reach for that wrench.
To bleed, simply top off reservoir, start vehicle, turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times, check for leaks and final check reservoir level again. If you experience foaming of the fluid, shut it off and let it set for an hour and try again until fluid is bubble free. You're done!

Merry Christmas!
