Volvo Repair: Turbo drain seals, 2002 S80 T6, s80 t6, curse words

Question
I have a 2002 S80 T6. The dealer says that I am leaking oil from my turbo drain seals and that they need to be replaced. I have two questions:

1) The dealer quoted $600 to replace all the gaskets and o-rings. He said that the driver side drain pipe is a real chore to get to. Since the gaskets are minimal cost (a few $), is $600 a reasonable price? Does it really take 4 to 5 hours to do this job?

2) He also said that this is a common problem on this car. Once they replace the seals, will this problem occur again down the road? Or were the gaskets redesigned to prevent this from happening again? It seems like a serious design flaw in the car if these seals are a common failure and it takes that much time to replace them.

Thanks.

Answer
Mark, put it this way, put all the curse words together and form 3 miles and thats how bad it is to do.  They SUCK.  $600 not a bad price considering all the cursing that is involved.  As far as going bad down the road, its going to happen but hopefully you will have sold this nightmare of a car by then.  Roger
