Volvo Repair: volvo brakes, volvo sw, shop joe

QUESTION: I have a 98 volvo SW that needs front brakes. The repair people say i have to replace the routers. mandatory. is this true

ANSWER: Debbie, depends on if you have a vibration or if the rotors are badly pitted and lipped.  You should replace them if they are bad.  Dont let anyone tell you to resurface Volvo rotors.  NEVER resurface them.  What kind of repair shop?  Joe's garage? Roger

QUESTION: thanks...Tires Plus told me that is mandatory that every time you get brakes you must replace the rotors no matter what. Is this true

Debbie, No its not true.  Those jerks dont know how to fox Lawn Mowers let alone a Volvo.  They are just trying to make money on you. Like I said, If they are not warped or lipped, then you can get away with just pads.  Not sure what planet that guy is on.  Roger
