Volvo Repair: SHOULD I BE WORRIED, volvo s80 t6, volvo s80

Question
HELLO, I AM LOOKING AT PURCHASING A 2004 VOLVO S80 T6 ELITE. MY CONCERN IS ON THE CARFAX REPORT IT STATED THE VEHICLE HAD ENGINE SURGE WHILE UNDER ACCELERATION WHEN IT WAS NEW.  THIS VEHICLE STILL HAS A REMAINING 100K WARRANTY SO SHOULD THIS BE A RED FLAG IN YOUR OPINION? I AM IN THE MARINE CORPS AND TRAVEL A LOT SO I DON'T WANT TO GET STUCK WITH A LEMON.  THANKS FOR OFFERING YOUR SERVICE.

Answer
No red flag. IMHO They had a batch of bad throttle actuators early on in the line. They were recalled. Check with Volvo with the VIN # and see if the recall was performed before purchasing.
On a lighter note, i'm wondering how carfax got that information. The manufacturers and independants do not typically share vehicle history information with carfax. Only the insurers do and the NHTSA do. Some state DOT's do also. But that's usually only recall information that the manufacturers must share per federal law. Is that what you were looking at maybe?
