Volvo Repair: Volvo s60R driveability problem, 2004 volvo s60r, labscope

Question
I have a 2004 volvo s60R 6MT.  I am getting what appears to be an engine miss under mid to heavy throttle between 3000 - 5000RPM.  It has the feal similar to a rev limiter.  I took it to the dealer and they replaced the fuel pressure sensor and said it was fixed but it did not help.  I have replaced the turbo control valve as this is another common cause of the type of problem I am having.  There are no engine codes being set.

I don't have great confidence in the dealer.  My brother is a GM technician and feals that is likely an ignition coil failing.

Is there a way to test the coils?

Any other suggestions on what the problem could be.

Answer
Kris to test the coils under load, you would need a dual trace labscope like the Fluke 88 and monitor incoming (trip) signals and outgoing (spark) signals. You would have to display these waveforms in real time and simultaneously to see where the dropouts occur. I know of no other way.
