Volvo Repair: 1990 240 DL station wagon, regulator assembly, warning lights

Question
The warning lights (except SRS and Oil) all came on but in a flickering on/off way while I was driving at night.  The next morning when I started the car up the same thing happened.  I then washed the car. Afterwards, when I started the car again there were now no warning lights on. I proceeded to drive the car throughout the day and no warning lights came on.  I have noticed that when I turn the ignition before crank, now only the SRS and Oil light come on, whereas in the past I would see all the warning lights light up?

Answer
Alternator. Bad connection, blown diode or most commonly the brush set is worn. You can just replace the brush/regulator assembly your self. It's easy and cheap. Not a permanent fix mind you, but will extend the service life of the alternator considerably.
