QuestionQUESTION: my 2000 volvo v70,turbo,had the abs,brakelight go on, lost cruise control,went into limp mode. i have 2 codes po722 and p1618,there is a recall on vehicle speed control !volvo wants 138.00 to do a diagnostic,and go from there. i'm broke and just bought this used.the way it sounds is it might be the rear vss sensor. if thats it i could change it myself.i would just need to find that tool. thanks joe
ANSWER: Joe, without a scan tool or Occilloscope, you are just guessing. You are probably correct though as VSS senders do fail. But which one? Try checking all the connectors first for integrity and cleanliness. Pop them apart at the rear and use a high quality contact cleaner on them and reassemble. HTH

Answer Joe, if you have the code descriptions please share them as I am at work and unable to look them up. The connectors are near the rear wheels. Followthe wire coming out of the backing plate, (splash guard) and the connectors should be less than 1ft away. Usually clipped up on the under body or on the control arms.
