Volvo Repair: 1998 volvo v70 a/c high limit swith, 1998 volvo v70, v70 base

Question
I have a 1998 v70 base model located in a new england climate(not florida) with 100k and like new. When I turn on a/c the compressor starts, within 4 seconds high limit switch kicks it off, does this repeatedly at Idle or driving. At idle or 2000rpm with pressure guage on low port side, gauge moves up to 45# and shuts off. I detached the high pressure switch,  a/c stays on and pressure holds at 65 never reaching red zone. A Volvo dealer I have zero confidence in says $2500.00 They need to remove dashboard etc. System does not leak. Please help! Thanks.

Answer
Scott, Morons.  They were trying to sell you an Evaporator at a ridiculous price.  45-65 is too high.  System may be overcharged.  With engine reved at 2000 RPM pressure should be at 28 PSI.  In my opinion, the best start would be to discharge the system and start over and only put in 1.63 lbs of refrigerant.  At least you would know the levels are right and then troubleshoot from there.  Roger
