Volvo Repair: 2004 S80 Brakes, zimmerman rotors, ebay

Question
Hello!

I have a 2004 S80 2.9 that needs brakes all around.  I'm at about 47K miles and had the car in the dealer for an estimate.  Came in at $900.00.

Years ago, (around 20) I worked at a local shop doing brakes and other relatively easy repairs.  I popped a wheel off the car and replacing pads looks pretty much the same as it did back when I was involved in the industry.

I want to replace the brake discs as well.  Here's where I have a few questions.  The first one being the proper meathod in removing the discs.  I searched for some sort of service manual with no luck.  Can you direct me to an exploded view of the disc/caliper setup on this car?  Or maybe provide some tips on removing the old discs?

Second question is replacement parts.  A. Do I want the OEM versions?  B. Where is the best place to buy them? (cheapest/most reliable.)

This car will be sold in the next 3 months as we are buying a new one.  I certainly want to sell it with good brakes, but have no interest in upgrading to a better/longer lasting brake as I will really not benefit from it.

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Rick, If you are selling the car, just put pads on the thing.  Its pretty cut and dry.  Two 7mm allen bolts hold the caliper in and then 2 15mm bolts hold the caliper brackett.  You need to remove the brackett to remove the rotor.  Some s80's have a locating pin on the rotor.  You need to remove that as well.  If you are going to replace the rotors, buy Brembo, ATE, or zimmerman rotors.  OE Rotors are garbage.  You can buy them at your auto parts store, EBay, IPDUSA.com and various other sources.  Roger
