Volvo Repair: Volvo s40 Damaged By Pep Boys, volvo specialist, pep boys

Question
Hello and thanks for being available. I have a 2001 s40 with 75,000 miles. I brought the car to Pep Boys for some maintenance and they suggested there silver package which includes an oil change, tire rotation, coolant change, and 3 step fuel system cleaner. They performed the work however as soon as I started the car it started blowing extreme amounts of white smoke. They said it would burn off and it was a result of the fuel system flush. I ended up taking it to a volvo specialist and he said it was an issue with a seal/bearing within the turbo. My question is how could a fuel system cleaner cause that kind of damage to the turbo? Thanks again for your expertise.

Answer
Roy, dont know why you would take your car to pep boys to begin with but anyway, it possible that the type of fuel cleaner was too harsh and may have caused internal damaqe with the turbo.  If your Volvo specialist can determine that it was caused by that then you have a case to sue those idiots. I've heard more stories about I took my car to pep boys and they.....  What kind of oil did they use?  What coolant also?  I hope they didnt use that dexcool crap.  Let me know some details about the stuff they used.  Roger
