Volvo Repair: need some old fanshioned advice on buying a 1999 volvo, v70 cross country, volvo xc70

Question
Hi,
My husband is about to purchase what he thinks is a great find. It is a 1999 Volvo XC70 or V70 Cross Country AWD Wagon. I am worried we will make a mistake again (we bought a used car some years ago and it was a disater) This car is on a lot and the manager says we can take it to our mechanic and have him look it over. He initially said it would come with a 30 day warrenty but then later said he could make it 60 days if we were really interested. The car has 130,000 miles on it. The cost is $6300 including tags and tax. They guy said it had only one owner.  It does "look" like it is in great condition but of course I now nothing about cars. The only think I have over my husband regarding this is that I am less impulsive and I have time to do more research. Please advise us if you can. If you need more info I can see if I can get it to you.

Sincerely,
Jessica

Answer
Jessica, Take my advice and tell your husband to stay away from that thing.  You are asking for nothing but trouble.  It may be fine today, but the more that thing is driven the more crap that breaks.  And its usually expensive stuff.  Examples.  Drive shaft, $800, angular gear, $2500, Lots of other various.  If you folks want a Volvo Wagon, stick with a 98 V70 or a 99- Non AWD. Hope this helped.  Any other questions, dont hesitate to write back.  Roger
