Volvo Repair: 2001 Volvo S60, transmission shops, volvo s60

Question
I bought a 2001 S60 back in August 2007 with 124k miles. I just got back in town to find out that my daughter could not get it to run in reverse. She had parked in saome mud and was trying to back out but would only spin the front tires. She then said that it eventually would not even spin the tires, but would only go in drive. I am not sure what actually happened, but I do know that when I put it in reverse it does not even seem to catch. It will only go in drive. Any suggestions that won/t break the bank? Thanks, Arnall

Answer
Arnall, since its a front wheel drive vehicle, of course just the front wheels will spin.  It sounds like the tranmission got burned up.  I would check the fluid level and see if its burnt.  If it is, time for a Tranmission.  I suggest a Volvo shop for the repairs.  Do NOT go to AAmco or any of these transmission shops.  They will take you for a ride and not repair the tranmission properly.  Roger
