Volvo Repair: alternator light flash after ingine shut off, volvo 240 wagon, bulb failure

  I have a 1992 volvo 240 wagon. After a normal day of driving the alternator light went on for about 2 seconds, after turning off motor? The bulb warning light, when driving, also goes on when I brake. The lights are good and the car runs good. Whats going on with the alternator?

Kelly, There is an issue in the bulbs somwhere or the bulb failure relay is the culprit.  As far as the alternator, As long as that light isnt on when the car is running, I wouldnt be too concerned at this point.  If it does happen then you can have the Voltage regulator replaced versus replacing the whole alernator.  Dont let them talk you into a new alternator until that regulator is replaced first.  The savings is about 200 bucks.  Roger
