Volvo Repair: 1996 volvo 960, 1996 volvo 960, 1995 volvo 960

Question
Hi, i have a 1995 Volvo 960 with 132,000 miles.  Recently bought for $2500 - great shape runs great and drives well but recently it has started to have transmission issues.  The car will sometimes lurch after stopping if having come off a 10 mile or so drive on the interstate.  It also will occasionally take a second for the transmission to engage after a stop after driving the same interstate distance - engine will rev and then it will just take off.  Fluid level looks good and also looks clean.  There have been no lights to come on.
Any ideas?

Thanks,

Michael

Answer
Michael, unfortunately that is the 960's downfall.  That trans is going to fail very soon.  You can try a PNP switch but it probably wont help.  Its time to either get a Volvo rebuild or try a low milage salvage yard.  I dont recommend a trans shop to rebuild it.  We have had nothing but issues when a local shop rebuilds them.  Sorry for the bad news.  Roger
