Volvo Repair: 1967 Volvo 1800 with a clutch that wont disengage, volvo 1800, house sitter

Question
Hi Roger:
I just got back from a year in Iraq, and when I tried to drive my 67' Volvo 1800, the clutch would not disengage, and so I could not get it into gear.
It had been started several times by my house-sitter over the course of the year, but not driven much, if at all. I am reading here that if a car sits for a while, the clutch can become stuck to the pressure plate. Even though the 1800 was garaged, it is humid here (Northern Virginia) so the rusted together scenario makes sense.
What steps should I take, and how can I get it fixed, if I can't drive it?
Thanks,
Dave

Answer
David, The best way to get that thing free is to find a spot where there isnt too much traffic.  Put the car in gear when its not running and then start the car.  Let it jump and do all that and eventually it should break free.  Other than taking trans out and doing a clutch job, I have no other suggestions.
