Volvo Repair: volvo ignition key replacement, v70 wagon, dealer ie

Question
Hello Roger..
getting such a run a round here...am stuck with a '99 v70
wagon here with lost ignition key and parked in such a way
that the towing people can move the car...is there anyway to
reproduce the ignition key without moving the car to a volvo
dealer ie thru vin no. or is there a "dummy" key that will at least unlock the gears to place in neutral to allow tow
truck to move the car without ruining the transmission? really find myself caught in a tight corner as I am out of
town and have dogs and captive passenger stuck out here in the tail end of the north fork of Long Island...any expertise would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, Richard

Answer
Richard, do these idiots not have a normal tow truck that can lift just the front wheels or are they all flatbeds out there?  You should have gotten a valet key with the car that opens the ignition, but the car will not run because of the chip in the master key.  Without breaking the lock, there is no other way to get the gear shift into neutral to at lease move the car.  A locksmith may be able to at lease make a key to unlock the ignition.  Roger
