Volvo Repair: s70, erie vovo, decent warranty

Question
I am told that my s70 (1998) timing belt broke.  The cost can be from 4000 to 6000 dollars.  It has 100,000 miles.  I really like my car, but do not want to get into having to pay every time I turn around.  I am in a delima about what to do.  I also read that other things need to be replaced when the timing belt breaks.  Is intalling a motor a better option (used) if it is guaranteed?  OR???????  My husband knows nothing about autos, and not many people in my small town know much about volvos.

Answer
Frances, that estimate is a bit high. Usually its about $3500 to repair the head and replace the valves.  If you buy and engine from Erie Vovo in New york they have a decent warranty.  The shop that is going to repair the car, are they a Volvo shop or Joe's Garage?  My opinion if we had the car in our shop would be to repair the cylinder head.  All the tensioners and pulley should be replaced and if the water pump was never replaced then I would do that as well.  Roger
