Volvo Repair: S40 Exhaust Flex Pipe, flex pipe, pipe problem

Question
I read on your site about Amanda who had to buy a whole new calyt-convert assembly to fix her mid-flex pipe problem. I have a S40 2001 Vol with the same problem, however I found a stainless steel flex exhaust coupler kit @jcWhiney.com for about $25.00 bucks. Wouldn't this have fixed her problem and mine? Thanks for being there!  LYNN

Answer
Haven't seen one.But I've seen enough garbage from there to have little faith. I like the stock exhaust...it fits, doesn't rattle, but it isn't cheap. You've gotta ask yourself how long you're going to keep it. If you're going to replace the car,fix it cheap and bail.If you're going to keep it then put the oe exhaust on. I agree with the 240 blower motors, I've replaced very many with the kit Volvo sells.'89 wasn't a good year for Volvo, they really haven't had too many good years for quite some time now.The s40 doesn't inspire confidence either...The Honda is really a much better made car...for less money...and less problems
