Volvo Repair: On-board computer problems, brake failure, failure message

Question
QUESTION: Hi Robert.  I hope you can help.  I have a 2004 S60 AWD sedan, still under warranty.  This will be the fourth time I'm bringing in for repair on what I believe is related.
First time, I tried to start car, engine kept dying.  "Check engine light" came on.  Finally started, drove to dealer.  They performed software download upgrade for engine control module.

Ten days later, while driving, "Check engine, ABS System Failure" and "Brake Failure" message come up. "Tech scanned vehicle for codes. BCM-100 /BCM-EOOO control module fault BCM-0115 communication between control units. BCM-0148 wrong configuration between control units.  Tech called tech hotline and was told to check for wiring problem and for chafing.  None found.  Tech replaced drivers info module."

Eight days later, car feels as if emergency brake on, dragging feeling while driving.  message states "Brake Failure."  Last visit replaced DIM module. "Tech scanned for codes BMC-0094/0148/0115. intermittent BCM fault (brake control module.  Tech replaced brake control module, cleared codes."

Now is the fourth time.  I went to go to work.  Car turned on then died.  Message said "anti-skid service required."  Car would not start.  Just cranks.  Now I have to have it towed to dealer.

I'm very nervous now.  Car has only 16,500 miles (3-years old.)  I am a woman who often drives at night and often with my 84 year old grandmother.  I cannot be worrying if the car is going to start.

I hope you can help me.  Many thanks.
Kathy

ANSWER: The problems don't sound related. But I don't know if you are getting the truth.Ask for a full scan of all systems and a print out before they clear fault codes.I would demand it be done in my presence with the Service Manager present.ABS controllers have a high failure rate and that may be the source of some of your problems, but still not the no-start.It may very well be a rash of bad luck, but all systems should be scanned whenever any warning light comes on!Not many techs will scan all systems.

QUESTION: Hi Robert.
Thanks for quick response.  What should I be looking for in the printout of all systems scan.  I am not a techie person.

Again, thanks.

Answer
Its in a user friendly language. It will either display "no fault found" or there will be a line by line description of every fault found, by system. Some faults can be ambiguous, mirror motor faults or power seat or power window faults(they will happen when a button is held in place while motor is at end position. Those will easily be disregarded, you want to see the ABS and Engine codes
