Volvo Repair: Volvo overdrive, bad luck, positive feedback

Question
QUESTION:  I have a 1083 Volvo DL manual trasmission.  The overdrive is jerking, but after 15 or 20 miles it'll run fine.  Could this be a fluid or filter issue.  Thank You.

ANSWER: Yes, always start by checking the fluid level and condition. But chances are the seals inside the unit have shrunk and hardened. It will probably need a rebuild.

Thank you again.
I rated you 10 all the way and check for you to get the award. Hope you get it.

Answer
Sorry to hear of your run of bad luck. Thanks for the kind words and positive feedback. The seals are relatively inexpensive, but the labor can be about 3 or 4 hours, or more if the shop is inexperienced with Volvos. It probably won't do any damage to drive it like this, for awhile anyhow.I wouldn't take it cross country.
