Volvo Repair: White exhaust smoke, volvo s70 glt, 1998 volvo s70 glt

Question
Hello Sir, I own a 1998 Volvo S70 GLT 2.5 Turbo with 97,500 miles on it. When I bought the car I had it checked out at the local Volvo dealer and they advised me of multiple problems including the rear seal was shot and the turbo was shot. I have finished all of the projects except the rear seal. I removed the old turbo and replaced it with a new one. Inside the old turbo was burnt oil and a thick black goo I would thing was burnt oil. I started the car and it was fine, It is idling at 950. After I took it for a quick test drive it began to smoke and I mean smoke. The antifreeze seems fine, It's new and it does not appear to have any oil in it. The engine sounds great. The car has been sitting for about three months without starting but I let it run for about an 30 minutes on three seperate occasions after I put the new turbo on. The car is leaking massive amounts of oil do to the bad rear seal but I don't think that should cause oil in the exhaust. Thank-you for any help you can provide.

Answer
Massive amounts of smoke billowing out of the exhaust could be a bad replacement turbo. But if the exhaust is loaded with oil,it may just need to be burned out.A compression test followed by a wet compression test along with a cylinder leakage test should be performed to find out what kind of condition your rings and valves are in
