Volvo Repair: 1998 v70 xc shifting hard, v70 xc, volvo repair

Question
I am OCD about every little noise or rattle in my wagon (147,000-love it!)and have a close relationship with my volvo repair shop.  Recently I complained that the car was hesitating and they did a transmission flush saying that the fluid was muddy.  Now my car shift VERY hard out of first and second-getting over 3,000 rpms to shift, which it never did before.  It is also quite loud trying to rev up to shift.  Everything else seems fine, no loss of power or fuel economy.  I always have it in economy mode and don't race from a complete stop.  Thanks for the help.

Answer
Fluid level should be checked. Then check if they used the correct fluid. Then bring it back and have them pull up any fault codes it might have stored.I personally feel the transmission flush is merely an upsell and a bad idea for a car with your mileage. Its often a "kiss of death" to an older transmission, that would've functioned adequately given the alternative.
