Volvo Repair: Drivers Seat Problem - 850 Turbo Wgn, new upholstery, metal collar

Question
Hi Robert,
Hope this finds you well.

I can hear the control motor engaging when I go to
change the angle of the seat-back, but the seat doesn't move.

I can't afford a costly repait right now, and am pretty handy.
ould you walk me through the repair?

Thanks so much!

Answer
Cut the upholstery hooks off the bottom of the seat back and pull the seat cover up revealing more hooks to cut off. Give yourself enough room to access the motor. remove the cable from the motor and heat up the metal collar at the end of it, pull it off the cable housing. Cut off about 3/4 inch of cable housing, not cable! Heat up the collar again and push it back on the freshly cut end. Reinstall the cable into the motor.Get some new upholstery hooks, your done.
