Volvo Repair: srs light, volvo 940, airbag system

I (my daughter) has a 93 volvo 940 - SRS light came on can't pass inspection with it on.  Can I turn it off? How?

Fault codes need to be read off and erased. Depending on the fault and the severity(intermittent)the light may stay off for a while. There are two diagnostic ports located at the rear of the engine compartment on the drivers side. You need to take out the probe from the "A" box and plug it into box "B"5 press and hold the button for 3 seconds a series of flashing lights will reveal a code like 4-1-1 repeat this procedure until all fault codes have been read off. Then press and hold the button for 5 seconds, the light should stay on, then press and hold the button for another 5 seconds. Recheck for faults and test drive. Make a record of the fault codes and see how soon it returns. Warning: The airbag system is not operational when the warning light is on.
