Volvo Repair: 1999 S80 T6 Troubles, s80 t6, nothing but troubles

Question
I just bought this car and the check engine light(check emissions) just came on about 4 months ago. It only lasted for three days then went away. Then it came back on and has stayed on for two months now. My car seems to be doing well, but I now have some time and money to fix the problem. Is there a way I can find out what the problem is and then take it to a mechanic? I just have a feeling that the problem has more to do with a sensor then with the car. Thanks

Ameilia, Im sorry you bought that car.  That thing is going to give you nothing but troubles.    Unfortunately, it needs to be scanned by a Volvo Shop or Dealer to find out what the problem is.  Joe's garage will not have the proper equipment to diagnose the car.  Roger
