Volvo Repair: Check Engine light, emission control system, reed switch

Question
Roger,

I have check engine light on Volvo S70. First I checked gas tank cap, it was tight.
Next I took it to AutoZone. They checked the codes and two things came up:

-   P0442, small leak in the evaporative emission control system;
-   P1081 Water pump (?) I was told.

Could you please suggest where I should look for that leak (if that is what causing the Check Engine light and what water pump could have possibly have to do with that light?

Also where is the adjustment for the passenger (ankle) courtesy light? Unless I close the door real hard it would not turn off. Is that around hinge side of the door or some reed switch where the lock is, and how to get to that adjustment?

Thanks for your help.

Dmitri.

Answer
Dmitri, I hate these PO codes.  I dont use them.  The small leak may be the vacuum elbow on the side of the intake manifold.  Why would you go to autozone?  I wouldnt even take a lawnmower there.  There is no water pump code.  The only code that would be something like that is the the ECT sensor on the thermostat housing.  As far as the light, Im assuming the door is out of alignment if you have to slam it real hard.  I would leave this to a Real Volvo Shop or Body shop.  Roger
