Volvo Repair: volvo 960 starter/battery issue, 1997 volvo 960, volvo 960

Question
I have a 1997 volvo 960.  It was sitting for about 9 months.  I could not start it.  I recently purchased a new battery.  upon replacing it in the car, I started it up and it was running.  I turned if off and restarted it with no problem.  After pulling it out of the garage, I turned it off.  I am now unable to start the car; all the electronic lights come on, the headlamps work, etc.  The engine is receiving no signal from the battery.  no cranking, nothing.  I attempted to jump it, and nothing happened.  I cannot locate the starter or the alternator on this car.

Can you tell me where to find the starter or alternator?  Also, can you tell me what else might be wrong?
THANKS!

DAVID

Answer
David, use the remote and try to unlock the car first. or use the key in the door and turn twice.  Maybe a glitch in the alarm circuit.  Try starting car in nuetral.  Doesnt sound like alternator.  starter is really hidden underneath.  Drivers side under the intake manifold.  Roger
