Volvo Repair: Power Antenna on 2002 Volvo S40, antenna mast, power antenna

Hi I had a question about replacing the antenna on my volvo s40.  It is an automatic antenna, and the motor and everything works fine, just the mast got bent pretty bad.  I bought a new antenna mast and was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to replace it.  The antenna has a grooved plastic tail on the end of it that I know im supposed to try and get the motor to catch on that but it has been difficult.  Any tips will help. Thanks!

Alex, did the mast come out in one piece?  Most likely you will have to take to motor apart to take the pieces out. If there is a piece in there, it will be impossible to get the new mast to catch the motor.  The only tip I have after you have removed any pieces  is keep trying.  It will catch eventually.
