Volvo Repair: 2002 volvo s60 oil change, volvo s60, newer cars

I have a great general knowledge of cars, but i am totally confised on what to do. Could you please tell me the correct way to replace the oil and oil filter, and the oil filter doesnt look normal, it look like an air filter in the middle, and it came with an o-ring for something. if you could just please clear it up for me.

Mark, thats the filter cartridge.  Thats how they are on the newer cars.  You need a special tool to remove the black housing but you may be able to get it off with an oil filter wrench.  When you take the black housing off, you will see the o-ring that you need to replace.  Push the filter cartridge into the oilpan housing.  The rest is the same as a regular oil change.  Roger
