Volvo Repair: 2005 XC70 cabin air filter, cabin air filter, torx screws

Question
I like doing my own "basics" on my Volvo's. I have a 2005 XC70 and would like to change out the cabin air filter myself. I also have a 1999 C70 and use the old Haynes British service manual and it works for the C70 but it is not applicable for the XC70.

I know that the xc70's cabin air filter is under the glove box and that there are 2 torx screws to remove the passenger side lower dash cover and I need to remove the center console side trim, no problem HOWEVER I cannot get that cover off. It seems that the upper right hand side (facing the front of the car) of the lower dash cover is attached to the dash is either a clip or bayonet or something that is preventing it's removal to access the pollen filter cover. I do not want to force it, Volvo plastics snap and are hard to replace. What am I doing wrong ? I have tried to slide the cover back, forward and sideways. Still does not want to come off at the corner point. Could you provide me with some insight on this problem. ?
Thanks,

Answer
Paul, you are just being too careful.  That lower panel is pretty tough.  Just use a small screwdriver and pull it downwards and it will come out.  You dont need to remove the center console trim.  you need to just angle it in when taking the lower dash piece off.  Roger
