Volvo Repair: 91 740 volvo sudan gl- No Brake lights at all !!!, bulb failure, brown switch

Question
Hi Regis! Hope you can help (no money).. Just replaced drivers side rear lens, tested lights and no Brake lights anywhere including center too. May have been dead for a few days, don't know.. All other lights are OK! Fuses, harness and wires look very good. Always had lamp warning on for 5 years but ignored it ($300.00 for new one). Brake relay clicks for shifter (automatic) when depress brake, but no illumination on all three brake lights! Fuses behind ashtray OK, bulbs OK, harness OK (little damp but protected by rubber sleave). Is the light alarm unit by the fuel sending unit? Could it be causing the trouble? Weather's been very damp and cold for two weeks may have contributed.. Can't bring the car into the house to dry it off (har,harr...). Been really taking good care of her 311,000 runs like the day I bought it. Trying to keep her around for another 15 years!...Thanks! (Hope to return the favour with computer, wireless, and all other communications advice to you).

Answer
2 POSSIBILITIES BAD SWITCH AT BRAKE PEDAL OR BAD BULB FAILURE WARNING RELAY.I WOULD CHECK FOR POWER IN AND OUT OF THE SWITCH IT IS A BROWN SWITCH NOT THE BLACK ONE WITH A VACUUM LINE.IF THIS IS OK THEN THE FAILURE RELAY MAY BE BAD.THE FAILURE RELAY IS EITHER A LARGE ROUND RED RELAY ON FUSE PANEL OR BLUE SQUARE BACK BY ONE OF THE TAILIGHTS.
