Volvo Repair: Volvo 850, 1996, Oil Problem, volvo specialist, valve job

Question
It burns about 2-3 quarts a month.
So, how much I should expect this valve job to set me back for?
Can a good mechanic (at the corner) perform such job or should I go to the dealer?

Jean, Its normal for the 850 to burn about 1 quart every 3k miles.  How many quarts is it burning?  The only cure is a complete valve job.  Roger

Jean, I wouldnt trust Joe's Garage with my Lawn Mower let alone my nice Volvo.  The Dealer would be best but will be expensive.  Do you have a Volvo specialist shop in town?  If not, let me know where you live and I can help you find one.  That job will be around 2 G's.  Roger
