Volvo Repair: time machine, volvo s80 t6, cylinder head gasket

Question
hello, I have a 2000 volvo s80 t6 with 112,000 miles. Suddenly I started to have problems with the cylinder head gasket, but now that the car was repaired the car wont start, and the guys at the shop say that is something called time machine, or time engine, iam sorry i am not very familiarized with the terms, so we bought the head gaskets new, but the car still wont start and they dont know how to turn it on, what could it be the reason and if a diagram needs to be followed how can i get it or what do you suggest i can do,i bought a repair manual but i dont think it would work, also the car suddenly turned off because it said that there was not enough oil pressure, the radiator water lasted for 2 days and then was completely spilled, thank you for your suggestions.

Answer
It sounds like they are having a "valve timing" issue.  The timing belt coordinates the valve movement with the piston movement.  If they are damaged, the car will not run, and the valves may be damaged.  The valve timing requires special tools to coordinate it.  If the timing marks are not enough to go on because the camshafts have variable control that shifts the gears with oil pressure.  Whatever shop is performing the work needs the go to a dealer and get some copy of the diagrams to coordinate it.  They may have to purchase this information, but there is no good way to describe the whole procedure to you.  If is already at a dealer where these problems are occuring then ask them for more specidics about what is going on, because most dealers have almost unlimited resources of information to get it fixed correctly.
