Volvo Repair: Parking lights 02 S40, wiring faults, weird coincidence

Question
Hello James,

I have an 02 S40, I was trying to check the fuse for the sunroof, by mistake I pulled the wrong fuse. I pulled the break lights fuse, now the parking lights wont come on nor the side markers, they olnly come on when I step on the break pedal.
What do you think might be happening? What can iI do to fix it? Arounnd how much to fix?

Please help, dont want to get a ticket driving at night.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Did you put the fuse back that you pulled out?  If it started right after you pulled the fuse, be sure to check everything there bery carefully.  Most likely whatever the problem is, you caused it.  This is a good thing though because those are the easiest types of problems to fix.  Make sure the fuse isn't blown, make sure its in the right location, and make sure that it is the correct amp value.  If it is in the right location and is not blown, then this is a very weird coincidence.  It will most likely be wiring faults at that point.  There is no way to pinpoint the location without seeing the car.  The cost of that kind of repair depends on the skill of the person doing the repair.  It is the type of repair that requires straight hourly pay to complete because there is no standard labor operation for wiring repairs.  So the more skilled the technician the faste he should find the problem.
