Volvo Repair: service engine 98 s70, obd11, odbii

Question
I have read the many responses to resetting service engine light NOT the check in engine light. My question is, Is this special instrument to reset the service engine light in fact the odbII? If i buy one for 90 bucks can I reset this service engine code myself?, or is it another electronic instrument that resets this.

The 98 s/v/c70 was the only car that could only be reset by the obd11 scanner.  I'm not aware of any aftermarket that is capable of reseting the light however.  There may be one, but I do not know of it.  You could also contact the service department for your local dealer and askl them if there is a charge to reset the light for your car.  Some service departments give services like that for no charge to previous customers of the dealer.
