Volvo Repair: volvo s80 shut down, dealer stocks, volvo s80

Question
Hello I have a 2003 Volvo S80. I bought it about 3 months ago. It seems to run great. I have heard a little rattling in the engine like something was not fastened properly. But it still drove great. Today the alarm sounded for no reason as it was parked in my driveway. I went to use the remote to disable it and the remote would not work. It would not unlock the doors either. I got in manually. When I opened the door a strange buzzing sound went off, I put the key in the ignition, the alarm went off, however the car would not start,it did absoluletly nothing when I cranked it. When I turned the key back down to remove it the strange buzzing happened louder. I shut the door. Left it alone because I know nothing about cars. However the alarm and buzzing sound continued to go on and off for a few hours then it completely stopped and nothing works period. Do you have any idea what I can do to fix this problem? Thank you.

Answer
The siren has gone bad.  It will act all random like that when it fails.  Not to mention the remotes won't work.  If you get in the car you should also notice that the sunroof probably doesn't work either.  All of those things are wired to the overhead module with the siren and they all stop working when the siren fails.  It is under the wheel well liner on the front right.  It should takes a couple hours to replace.  It is a part any dealer stocks.  The part is a couple hundred dollars.  Not sure of the exact price.  You can call any dealer for an over the phone quopte for the job.
