Volvo Repair: Throttle Module Cleaning!, air intake hose, buena park ca

Question
I have a 98 S70 T5 i had a few stalls ( about three) in the past few
months. I took it to Shelly Volvo In Buena Park, Ca to have it
checked out, they performed a "Throttle Module Cleaning" (inc.
Decarbonization & Moc Fuel Treatment) They seen to have
forgotten to screw on a black plastic plate that goes over where the
cable that moves when you step on the gas. It looks just as dirty as
before, how would i know if they performed what they said they
did? What and where is the Throttle Module? I just feel like i got
had! Should the cleaning have been coverd under warranty? Thank
you in advanced!

Answer
Patty, If you had a 99 or new then the throtle module would have been replaced under a recall.  The throtle Body on the 98 and older cars get removed and cleaned.  Its behind the air intake hose that goes from the airbox to the throtle body.  They sold all that new garbage that the car doesnt really need but made a sale on the "new and improved" cleanings.  I would take it back to them and pitch a fit.  That screw is just for the cover. If you really want to see if it got cleaned you need to take that hose off and look inside the throtle housing.  Roger
