Volvo Repair: excessive engine vibration, excessive vibration, engine vibration

Question
Hi, my car is a 1998 s70.  Recently, my car has excessive vibration when the engine is running.  I've read the posts about it and checked the upper engine mount.  The plastic mount is firm and its still in full contact with the metal arm, and I only notice theres something like peel-off of the plastic skin on the inner part of the mount, but not sure if the mount is defective or not.  If the mount is broken, I'm thinking of replacing it with an IPD mount.  What kind of tools do I need and is it easily replaceable?  I've heard people said its required to jack up the engine to replace it, is it correct?  And also, I've just had changed the engine oil and I found out that the oil excess the upper limit of the dip-stick (even the car is parked on a leveled ground), does it contribute to the vibration and the activation of the check engine light?  Thank you very much.

Answer
Alex, No you dont need to jack up the engine.  I highly discourage the IPD mount.  Its a great mount but they are noisy.  That peeled plastic is normal.  Your other motor mounts and side mounts may be collapsed and thats what you could be feeling.  Those mounts are not fun to do.  I suggest a volvo shop to do those.  Depending on what dipstick there should only be 5.5 qts for a red dipstick and 6.2 on a orange stick.  No, that would not contribute to vibrations or activiation of the check engine light.  Roger
