Volvo Repair: 1994 vovlo 960 (uk spec) starting problem, power stage, bell housing

Question
I have a 1994 turbo 960, and recently the car started having starting problems.  The engine would turn over when I turn the key but would not start.  At first I thought it was a fuel problem, but I checked the fuel puep and it seems to be working.

At the time I use to spray "quick start" into the intake, and it would fire right up.  now that wouldn't even work.  Some of my friends came over to look at it and think it can be an igition problem because im not getting any spark from the plug wires.  the distro cap seems fine and no cracks are present.  So I traced it back a little futher to that little black box that is connected to the distrobutor cap, and it doesn't seem like it getting any power either.  So im assume its that little black box on the firewall, but not curtain.

I was wondering what your take on this would be? where can I check to see if Im even getting power to that "litte black box thingy"

Answer
Max, Im assuming you meant 940 turbo.  I have never seen a 960 turbo.  That little box thingy is a fan relay.  some care have 2 box things and thats the ignition relay.  Also on the firewall is whats called a power stage.  That may be the problem.  You also should have a speed sensor on top of the bell housing on the transmission.  Thats is also a possibility and is the cheapest part to start with.  Too many ignition components on this car.  Roger
