Volvo Repair: 1982 Volvo DL, stupid woman, temp sensor

Question
Hello and good day. I have a 1982 Volvo DL . I am trying to loccate the temp. sensor to replace it, can't find it. Not sure if it is in the head or the block. also have a 1988 760 w B230f/t has a really bad ticking sound. Been told that it is the liner in the #2 piston. The car only has 232,000 kms (not miles) Is there anything else it may be? Feel like the repair shop may be trying to take advantage thinking i am a stupid woman. Not ready to put out $4000.000 for rebuild if it is not needed. PLease advise if
you can.

Thanks  :-)

Answer
Teri, The 82 sensor is under the intake manifold on the cylinder head.  The 88 can be a simple exhaust leak.  Not sure what that guy is talking about.  $4000 for a rebuild?  You can buy a new engine for that price.  Thats ridiculous.  Find a new shop that doesnt have crooks employed there.  Roger
