Question -
My Volvo has two switches on the drivers side to adjust the seat. The front switch works fine to adjust the lower portion of the seat. The rear switch which adjusts the back makes a noise but will not move the seat. I tried anothe switch and the same thing happens--noise, but nothing. Where do I go from here?

Answer -
JW, not sure if you want to handle this one.  Whats happening is the seat cable is stretched.  We repair the cable and recalibrate the seat.  If you want to tackle this, I will try to give you instructions.  Let me know.  Roger

Answer
JW, you are going to have to cut the hog rings on the seatback and then lift if up so its workable.  Then you need to find the cable.  If you are looking at it from the back seat, it will be on its left.  You would need to loosen the screws holding the plate in, then you would pull the cable out of its holder then you would pull it down toward you to work with it.  Pull the cable out of the black tube and put it aside.  You would need a butane torch now to do this.  With a needlenose hose the silver piece and heat it up.  Becareful not to get it too hot.  Pull the silver piece off and set it aside.  ITS HOT!!!  Now with a sharp razor bladecut about 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the black tubing.  Heat the silver piece back up then press it back on the black tube. Put the cable back in.  Now the fun part that sucks.  Getting the cable back into the holder.  Tighten screws and rehog ring the upholstry.  Some of these are a bastard and some are okay to do.  We charge an hours labor to do this but it basically does suck to do it.  Roger
