Volvo Repair: engine choking out., volvo 740 gl, volvo 740

1989 Volvo 740 GL/non Turbo/ 4dr.sedan-My "check engine"light came on yesterday while I was on the beltway and my engine began to loose power.It cut off when I came to a stop but I was able to restart it and get home,I have'nt driven it since.6/20/06

Eric, This is one of those deals that is simple impossible to tell whats going on without doing a few tests.  It can be something simple like a relay cutting out to possible a fuel pump starting to go.  I would have the car checked out by a volvo shop.  Roger
