Could you please advise me on how to remove & replace the left headlight
assembly on a 2000 Volvo V40?  Thank you.

Remove the corner lens first.  It is held in by a phiullips head screw between the headlamp and the turnsignal.  Look straight down between them.  Just loosen this and then pull the corner lens straight out.  The headlamp lens is held in by 4 10mm bolts from the back side.  Remove those 4 bolts and then the headlamp will come out.  Procedure says you need to remove the front bumper cover but you can bend it a little and it will come out with alot less work.  Shouldn't take more than an hour as long as you have the tools to reach those bolts for the lens.  Good luck.
