Volvo Repair: 1997 Volvo 850 Turbo. Front control arm bushing, control arm bushing, volvo 850

Question
Hi!
Car is '97 Volvo 850 Turbo. The bushings in the right front control arm (the sort of 'A' shaped lower half of the suspension) are loose - I can move them. So I intend to replace them, and have removed the bolts, and now the control arm is free from the chassis (just connected to bottom of shock by Ball joint). But how do you remove the bushings from the control arm? They seem to be rubber in a metal sleeve. The metal sleeve is very tight in the control arm (rusted?) Do they come out? Brute force? I have seen replacement bushings for sale. How do these fit in the control arm (assuming I can get the old ones out)?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Simon, I would replace the whole arm assembly and not just the bushings.  There are not badly pricely,  As far as that balljoint, I would spray some PB blast in the joint under the strut, let it soak a bit.  Im assuming you took the bolt out, and yes brute force is the only way to do it.  PB blaster will help you.  Roger
