Volvo Repair: 1990 740GLE sunroof out of control, swith, j scott

The sunroof on our 1990 740GLE (sedan) no longer stops. The motor runs fine, but the roof runs all the way from open, right through the closed station, until it opens in the vent position. We can tap the switch and the roof moves in small amounts, so we can get the roof closed pretty well, but it is a real PITA. Is this a switch issues, a problem with the motor, or what?

J Scott, The Motor has a stop inside when it gets to the stop position.  remove the motor with the roof in the closed position.  Use the swith to trigger it to full open, then close it.  It should be retimed now. Also when it stops, check the vent open function on the motor.  If that doesnt fix it, then it internal in the motor.  The switch is just an open close function.  Roger
