Volvo Repair: 1996 Volvo 850 Turbo Horn Intermittent, volvo 850, steering wheel

Roger, thank you for your time!

A while ago, my horn would not always honk when I pressed the center of the steering wheel.  I would have to press very hard or in differnt points.  Then one day, it started beeping intermittently.  When I would turn the steering wheel while driving, my horn would beep many times.  It did not, however, stay on all the time.  I was told by a dealer that I would need to replace the steering wheel.  I have had the horn disconnected for over a year now and would like to fix it.  

Any thoughts?

Dave, Of course the dealer wants to sell you a wheel.  They dont know about the horn repair kits.  Im not sure if IPD sells them or not but basically the red grommets inside the wheel break over time and thats whats cause your horn to do that.  Check at IPDUSA.com and see if they have the kit.  Roger
