Volvo Repair: 92 - 740 Turbo Noise in Steering Wheel, cv joints, power steering fluid

Question
My '92 is making some noise when turning the steering wheel. (not CV joints).  not sure if it's a belt or fluid needs to be changed... etc..  I have added fluid but it hasn't made a difference.  any suggestions?  Many thanks for your time and assistance.

Answer
Hello,
I assume that the car has over 150,000 miles...often the problem is attributed to...failed power steering fluid.(you may try to drain the system) and add the proper fluid...often the wrong type fluid is used...there are 4 different types of oil used for trans/power steering applications..
You may have a worn power steering pump...they get noisey when they are high mileage..
Belt noise is a easy fix....spray belt underside with belt dressing...as directed on spray can.
                Good luck,
