Volvo Repair: LOCKING SYSTEM, s40 volvo, newer cars

Up until a few days ago, my 2000 S40 Volvo's parking lights would always flash when the car was locked from the outside. Also, the red light in the dashboard would flash while the car was locked. For some reason, neither of these 2 things is happening when I lock my car now. I have opened and shut all the doors and the trunk several times thinking one just wasn't shut all the way but it still won't work. Any advice on what else I should try or what might be wrong? It's bothering me because I feel like my car isn't safe even though all the doors are locking.

Lauren, sounds like there is a problem with the alarm module.  If all doors are locking I wouldnt be too concerned but you would need to go to the dealer or Volvo shop that has the specialized computer system to see what is exactly wrong with it.  There is nothing you can test on these newer cars without the computer.  Roger
