Volvo Repair: What would cause my 1991 Volvo..., volvo dealer, volvo 740

What would cause my 1991 Volvo 740 4 door sedan to have a high pitched squeaky noise all the time I have the motor going?  Just had my volvo dealer put new shocks on it.

Hello...
      Being unable to actually hear your squeaky noise I will take a guess....front brakes are making the noise...you may want to be sure your front calipers are free..pads that are glazed...will make loud squeal.
      Sometimes...if the parts are cleaned...pads,discs and caliper rubbing edges you may fix the squeal.
      Another possibility..alternator belt loose..or another belt...
         Lastly...u-joints need replacing.
